Meeting Five ~ 1/27/12

The meeting started with us reading a story about the Daisy flowers learning about the importance of respecting authority. Then, we had a visit from Mr. Croyle who also talked to the girls about respecting authority. They then worked on a thank you card for Mr. Croyle.

The girls have now earned their magenta petal ~ respect authority.

After snack time, they worked as a team to create some cute penguin charms.

We talked about our cookie sale...the troop had sold 350 boxes at that point. So, the girls were excited to learn that we had reached our initial goal of selling 300 boxes!

Our next meeting will be Valentine's Day themed! The girls are going to have a Valentine's Day Card Exchange. So, please make sure your Daisy brings a card for each of the girls in the troop.

Homework Assignment Reminder...

Remember that in preparation for the World Bazaar in March, I am asking that all the girls do some research on the country we have been assigned.

Italy

What language do they speak?

What are Girl Scouts called there?

What foods do they like to eat?

What are some cool cities and places to visit?

Please have them bring this information with them to the January 27th meeting.

So, we finally got a song approved for our Troop's performance at Lip Sinc 2012.

Spring Green Petal (earned 12/2)

Rose Petal (earned 1/16)

Meeting Four ~ 1/13/12

At this meeting we talked about cookies, cookies, and more cookies! We talked about the different Girl Scout cookies. We got to sample three types of cookies, Lemonades, Shortbread, and Thin Mints. And the girls got to vote on their favorite.

We talked about cookie booths and selling door to door. The girls practiced their selling skills.

The girls talked about their goals and they voted on what they wanted to do as a troop with the cookie sale money. By majority vote, we will be visiting Build a Bear if we reach our goal. Our troop goal is 300 boxes (50 boxes per Daisy).

The parents were given the permission slips for selling cookies, the cookie order form, and their money envelopes.

Postcard Exchange Update

We will be working on the postcards for the Postcard Exchange at the start of our January 13th meeting. We were lucky that both the Philadelphia Zoo and Valley Forge donated postcards to our troop, so we didn't have any costs for those.

We will need about 47 more postcard stamps though. Katerina is already bringing in 15 for the exchange. So, if you can donate any, please let me know.

We have also reached our goal of at least one troop in each state. We are actually up to 62 troops all together.
